Hello, I'm Anna

I’m a writer, speaker and food educator. I’m enthralled by family history, psychology and the power food has to tell stories and preserve memories.

In 2022 I left Russia for Istanbul and then Sydney. I’ve been reconciling the experience of migration by studying counselling and writing a memoir about my experience and my family history (I’ve even won The Wingate Unpublished Manuscript Award for it).

I speak and write about studying family history, immigration & resilience. I do demos and workshops on food ways for a kitchen steeped in sustainability, memories and connection.

I'd love to speak at your event.

The Soviet Diet

Cookbook

I cooked my way through the iconic Soviet Book of Tasty and Healthy Food, and wrote down my grandmother's stories about each dish.

Propaganda versus real life, delicious and terrible recipes, and a real insight into Russian & Soviet life.

"Missing so much my grandmother and her stories, and cooking, this book reminded me about warmth of my childhood and the spirit of Siberia, in some recipes I recognized that deep soul part I need so much today!"

Food gives insights into everyday life, culture and history. It connects us, not just with each other, but also with our past.
